mothur software package provides sequence analysis suite for research on microbiota, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mothur
mothur is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mothur package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mothur *
You will get with mothur package name, version, architecture and description in a table
